Give an Hour for Earth!

Learn while you earn!

What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is an annual worldwide movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) which normally occurs on the last Saturday in March. Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and has grown since then, encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for just one hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm to show commitment and care to the planet.

This year everyone should strive to create the Biggest Hour for Earth together, by pledging to give an hour in various impactful ways and not just the iconic way of switching off your lights.

What are some ways that I can give one hour?

  • Reconnect with our planet!

Take a scenic, relaxing walk through nature. Ensure that you turn off all distractions before visiting the outdoors. This can be an eye-opening experience that will show you how truly beautiful the world is.

  • Restore our planet!

Engage in activity that restores our natural environment! A few activities you can do is plant a tree, clean a beach, or even rewild where you allow nature to reverse human interference and domestication thus repairing the damaged ecosystems and rebuilding biodiverse habitats.

  • Learn more about our planet!

Take some time to learn more about our planet Earth! Knowledge is power after all and with the power of learning, you have the ability to make changes to help the planet!

  • Inspire others to take care of our planet!

Inspiring your peers goes a long way in caring for our planet. When you inspire someone today, that person can go on to inspire two, no maybe even 5 more! In this way, the domino effect is continuous and builds up over time with just one small action.

  • Finding other ways to make an impact!

There are so many ways to take part in Earth Hour and finding your niche is ideal. When it comes to our planet, all of your actions matter! Explore your artistry side, plan a cookout, or follow online events for Earth Hour!
